Counselling
provides a safe and
confidential place to explore issues which affect the way you feel
about yourself. You may wish to develop self awareness, change patterns
of behaviour in your life, or find practical solutions to problems that
you are finding.
By making the choice to seek help from a counsellor, you are allowing
yourself the space to talk with someone who has no invested interest in
directing you one way or the other.
You'll have a completely accepting, non-judgmental space within which
to explore your issues (problems) and to be able to deal with them in a
supportive and caring environment.
However, maybe most importantly, you are listened to - something in
this day and age is a rare commodity.
The counsellor is not there to give you any solutions to your problems,
but to facilitate your own self growth, knowledge and to give you the
space and help to be able to move forward in a way that you would
prefer to live your life.

More
about a counselling session:
Q. What happens during a session?
A.
Counselling is exclusively a 'talking therapy' where the client has the
opportunity to speak about the issues that concern them and through
doing so with a counsellor may gain new understanding and access their
own inner healing and resolution.
Q. How many sessions will I need?
A.
Typically, six to twelve sessions are required to enable the resolution
of a particular issue to emerge in the short term. Longer term sessions
can extend beyond this time frame and permit time and opportunity to
work through difficulties in more depth.
