Q.
How
does Hypnosis work?
A.
Everything that you have ever experienced in your life is stored in
your unconscious (sub-conscious) mind. Through hypnosis these
experiences can be accessed.
For
example, people are not usually born
with a phobia and it is generally accepted that they learn to be
phobic. I
If you can
learn something you can 'un-learn' it and hypnosis is a good
way of achieving this.

Q.
What happens
during a session?
A.
The first session usually takes 1 hour 15 minutes during which your
case history is reviewed before starting hypnosis.
This
takes
the form of a deep body relaxation to induce a trance-like state. It is
in this
trance state that therapy is given.
I will need to know about your
previous medical history and details about any medication you are
taking.
|
Q. How will I feel after the session?
A. Usually, people feel very
relaxed after being hypnotised.
Q. Can I drive after a
session?
A. Yes. Hypnosis will not affect
any activities you need to do after the session.
|
| Q. Will I lose control?
A. Never. You remain in control at all times. You will not say or do
anything that you do not want to say or do.
Hypnosis is
only ever
by mutual
consent - it is not possible for me to make you think, act
or behave in any way against your will or that might conflict with your
morals, lifestyle or beliefs.
Hypnosis is a process of inducing deep
relaxation in order to access and unlock your subconscious mind so that
you can recognise and manage a particular
behavioural aspect of your life.
Your
treatment plan is discussed and reviewed
at every stage of the process.

Q. Can anyone be hypnotised?
A. Yes - the exceptions being
those who have been drinking alcohol or are taking certain medication.
Q. How effective is hypnosis for
Stopping Smoking?
A. I have a proven success rate
of over 90% for Stop Smoking.
|
Q. How many sessions will I need?
A. It depends on the issue you would like dealt with.
Stopping
smoking for example can usually be dealt with in two sessions.
Some
phobias, like fear of flying, can be dealt with
in one session.
Nail biting can usually be dealt
with in two sessions.
Hypnosis
is one of the quickest therapies but obviously, if problems are deeply
rooted, they will need a longer course of treatment and this will be
discussed at the initial session.
Where
appropriate, I provide personal CDs for use at home
to reinforce therapy between your appointments.
